Quiltin' Tuesday

Hey ya'll, Tuesday for me brings sewing with the Tuesday Sewers at our local community center.  Our group which is part of the Cruso Friendship Club works to help those in need in our community.

Back Again!

Hey ya'll.  It's been quite a while since my last post, and I thought it time to start writing again.  Let me say that this has been one crazy summer, filled with lots of awesome times and of course lots of great quilts.

Still Quiltin'

Hey ya'll.  It's been a while since I've gotten to post, but I wanted you to know that I'm still here and still quilting.  My quilting time has been short these last few weeks.

What a Week

Wow, what a week this has been!  I've been quite busy all week long.  From working to Club meetings, I've not had any extra time.  It feels good to sit down and write for a minute or two.  Let me catch you up a little on what I've been doing.

And Sew It Goes

Good evening.  Today has been a busy day.  I was up at 4:30 this morning, at work by 6:30, worked until 7pm, then came home to finish my sewing table project.  I must say, that the table has turned out better than I was expecting.

Sewing Tuesday

Hey all!  Today was sewing day for our group at the Cruso Community Center.  Our group meets most Tuesdays to work on lots of projects.  We've made lots of items for our center of the years.  Each year we work on a Raffle Quilt that raises money for two scholarships for high school seniors in our community.  We've sent pillowcase dresses overseas, made receiving blankets for the local hospital, lap quilts for the sick and those in nursing homes, and are currently working on the Home of the Brave Project.  I talked about this project the other morning.  A couple of weeks ago, we sent off 7 finished quilts to be distributed.  We have 2 more finished and many more in the process.  I received word today, that 2 of the quilts we sent off a few weeks ago have already been sent out.

Gorgeous Day on the Lake Ended with Some Sewing

Today, I spent the day on Fontana Lake with our youth group from church.  We rode the pontoon around on the lake, swam, and had an awesome time.  I have to admit that this was my first time on a boat on a lake.  I've been to the lake a few times before, but have never been out on a lake.  I could easily get used to that!  While riding around, a few of us were talking about boathouses and we saw one for sale.  Would love to have a boathouse.  What would be better than being at the lake, without all of life's distractions, with a treadle machine quilting away!  A man can dream, right?

Fog in the Mountains

As it begins to lighten up this morning, you can definitely see the fog laying low.  The muted tones created by the fog remind me of the muted colors found in the civil war reproduction fabrics.  For some time I wasn't a fan of the civil war era fabrics, but my creative side is now piqued and wants to play a little more.  A friend recently requested an Underground Railroad quilt for their bed (California King might I add).  Will have to work on that soon, maybe for Christmas.

Early Morning Stitches

Good morning everyone!  I'm up early to get ready for another day at work, however I've managed to sneak in a few minutes for some hand stitching on the tote I'm working on.  All I have left is hand stitching the binding down.  I'm about halfway finished with it.  This binding is a bit slow going though.  With rigid foam board forming the center of the bag, there's not much give to the edges so it takes some extra tugging and work to work in the stitches next to the foam.  While this may be my only quilting time I get today, I'm so thankful I am able to spend even five minutes today working on a project.  It keeps me going.

Hey Ya'll!

Hey y'all, I'm Levi Henson.  I am a mostly self-taught quilter and I love to share what I'm doing.  I've been quilting for about 6 years and love to try new projects and techniques.  I do work full time at a local hospital as well as volunteer as a youth director at my church and in our local community center.  My quilting time is often my quiet times.  I sneak in time to quilt as often as possible.  I often sew each morning when I get up even if it is a few minutes or just a few blocks.  This time is also when I spend a lot of time in prayer.  The hum of the machine tends to block out a lot and help me to focus on God and my projects.
